Trust | Respect | Learning Early | Under Saddle |
Breaking ground with trust makes gaining respect a smoother transition. Soon your young horse will join up with you and follow you anywhere.

2-year-old, Medicine Hat learns trust
Teach him to trust you by sacking him out, touch him everywhere until he is calm to your touch. This may take several tries or could be accomplished in one 20 minute session.

Learning Respect

Smuggler learns Respect
Taking control of a horse doesn't mean bullying him, it means not accepting his bullying. Earn respect by using horse language to promote that you are leader quality and test him until he accepts you as the leader. Typically horses feel safer when someone else is leading. So make your horse feel safe and become confident with gentleness. see more about Our Fluffy Smuggler
Early Learning
Traveler and Smuggler doing early lessons
Early training is essential for a confident horse, not that an older horse can not be brought around, but training early can help prevent some bad habits such as spooking, trailer issues and general interaction with humans. For more information on Rosie and Traveler visit here.
Under the Saddle

Rosie Learns to ride and Toben wins big

Taking a horse under saddle should be done by an experienced rider, although there are breeds which even the greenest rider can ride not long after the horse has become accustomed to the saddle and bit.Toben (right) was Tom Longs first horse, in fact Toben was the first horse Tom Long interacted with. Green at grooming, caring for, training or riding, he took Toben into the ring and won a Blue Ribbon. Toben is by Trippett's Rock and Stroll.
